  1. Does Main One offer any diversity or restoration services?
    Yes, Main One offers diversity and restoration services by working in collaboration with other solution providers Restoration solutions via our network on a POP to POP basis will also be available next year.
  2. Does Main One provide IP connectivity?
    Yes. Main One is currently able to offer IP services starting at 10 Mbps. We have partnered with Global Crossing as our upstream provider.
  3. When will Main One commence Phase 2 of the Main One Cable System?
    Main One intends to initiate work on Phase 2 prior to year end in 2011.
  4. How does Main One intend to achieve high availability on its network?
    The network is designed with a high degree of resilience with diverse routes where feasible, pro-active network monitoring and performance management on a 24X7X365 basis is conducted. In addition, we have dual generators backing up the AC power, dual DC distribution networks, which mean that our NOC and all our equipment receives regular power 24/7/365. Each generator has sufficient power to run the system on its own. Furthermore at our cable landing stations, we have two battery back-up systems working in parallel to ensure an “always-on” system. Each element of the subsea network is designed with resilience in mind. Each Power Feed Equipment in one location could fully power the system at all locations.
  5. How is Main One able to deliver capacity to points beyond London?
    Main One delivers capacity worldwide via our Tier 1 interconnection partners in Telehouse London who are able to provide onward connectivity extending to over 250 cities around the world.
  6. What are Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the Main One Cable System?
    Phase I of the Main One project includes landings in Seixal, Portugal; Accra, Ghana and Lagos, Nigeria. Phase 2 of the project will extend the cable down to South Africa with landings in Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, DRC and Angola. We are also building out additional landings in Morocco, Canary Islands, Senegal and Ivory Coast.
  7. How will Main One ensure high availability of the undersea portion of the cable system?
    Main One has signed a Cable Maintenance Agreement with ship owners to ensure adequate responsiveness for cable repairs and maintenance of the entire submarine cable system from beach to beach. Maintenance agreements have also been signed with Terrestrial and Civil engineering companies to ensure any land based repairs are undertaken within 4 hours.
  8. Does Main One Cable offer collocation services?
    Yes. Keeping with global trends that is beginning to see most firms leveraging outsourced connectivity and hosting solutions, , Main One offers a state of the art facility for customers who require collocation to complement its world class unrivaled high speed communications solution from Africa to the rest of the world. The facility is equipped with a main (and backup power) supply, ample security personnel, biometrics access control into rooms with advanced encryption, cooling systems and fire detection and suppression systems.
  9. Is Main One Cable providing IP connectivity to its clients?
    Main One is currently able to offer IP via Tier 1 interconnection partners starting at 10 MBPS and also includes connectivity at the STM1 (155 MBPS) or the DS3 (45 MBPS) level. Our comprehensive suite of IP services will be available from May 2011. However we are already offering IP on a pay as you grow basis to our customers...Our product suite in May 2011 will include IP Internet Access and IP Transit.
  10. How does Main One differentiate itself from other broadband providers?
    Main One is a wholly African based company and is run independently under the guidance of a structured Board of Directors. It is not part of a consortium which means that we are able to respond to capacity subscription requests and provision our clients in an expeditious manner on an end to end basis under control of our own licenses.
